How to Clean Your Grow Tent

Grow tents are one of the most convenient means of home growing. It creates the perfect space to house your plants, with all the necessary holes for ventilation and wires.

While smaller than a whole room, a grow tent is still an effective option for smaller grows with a few plants. But if you don't clean your tent between cycles, you're going to run into problems.

Why you should keep your grow tent clean

A lot happens in a grow tent throughout the cycle. Leaves may die and fall to the floor, soil gets knocked around and falls to the floor too, condensation may form on the walls over time from lighting and humidity, and more.

Over time this can add up and cause issues. Bugs, mold, mildew and other issues could plague your grow tent from a build up of issues, and while it might not kill your plants, it will be a pain to deal with.

It is a lot easier to just clean out your grow tent between cycles so your next plants have a clean home to thrive in, and you don't have to worry about cleaning your tent with plants growing in it at the same time.

How to clean your grow tent

Cleaning your grow tent is a little more work than just taking the pots out and spraying it down with some hot water. When you clean your grow tent, you want to clean every part of it, and everything that's inside of it.

That includes the pots and saucers, fans and ventilation, and the inside of the tent itself. The best way to clean everything is with the proper cleaning solutions.

While hot water is useful for getting the loose dirt and plant material off of the inside of the tent and your equipment, it doesn't kill all bacteria. Luckily you can make a big difference just by adding some H202 to your water. Hydrogen Peroxide is great for cleaning down the inside of your tent and most of your equipment.

Simply dilute the H202 into your water and spray down the inside of the tent, your pots and saucers or other equipment. Make sure to avoid anything with open wires with the spray and clean carefully by hand. After you spray it all down you can simply wipe it off and call it a day.

Going the extra mile

If you want to completely ensure that your grow tent and equipment is totally clean, ProKure is the answer. Start by using their ProKure V liquid solution mixed in with 5 gallons of water. ProKure V liquid will kill mold, mildew and odors more effectively than just using H202, and it's safe to use even if you have plants in your tent at the time.

After spraying the liquid solution, you can break out the ProKure G Fast Release Gas that will release into your tent over six hours, getting into every crease and crevice you may have missed on your first pass. And to really bring it home, finish with ProKure D Extended Release Gas.

The extended release gas will emit very low levels of ClO2 (Chlorine Dioxide) gas vapors via a humidity-activated delivery system. These trace levels of ClO2 provide odor control and on-going ClO2 protection for up to 30 days.

Just like ProKure G, ProKure D gas vapors can creep into cracks and crevices that other liquid applications cannot so you can get some extended protection well into your next cycle, giving your plants the cleanest possible environment to grow.

Maintain a clean tent

Cleaning your grow tent isn't just about cleaning up between cycles and letting it build up and get dirty again through each cycle. Constantly monitor your grow environment to make sure you're catching fallen leaves, not letting moisture build up, and maintaining a clean tent throughout every cycle so you can get into the habit of maintenance.

Your plants will thank you!
